Single-Component Photo Emulsion PINK
For Plastisol and Solvent-Based Screen Printing Inks
Photo Emulsion PINK is a ready-to-use, single-component screen printing emulsion for creating durable screen printing stencils. It is particularly suitable for printing with plastisol inks and solvent-based screen printing inks, and is designed for manual screen printing on textiles, metal, glass, films, wood, plastics and other suitable materials. This makes it possible to print with screen printing inks that contain solvents.
If you print with water-based screen printing inks, Photo Emulsion PRO is the better choice.
The emulsion is applied evenly to both sides of the screen mesh using a scoop coater, then dried away from light and exposed with your design. You can find detailed instructions here: How to Make Screen Prints.
Important – please note: This emulsion is extremely light-sensitive. The container must not be opened in daylight, as the emulsion can react and harden immediately when exposed to UV light. Mixing, coating, drying and storage must be carried out exclusively under yellow light or in a suitable light-protected room.
- Suitable for plastisol inks and solvent-based screen printing inks
- High solids content for opaque coatings and durable screen printing stencils
- Allows both detailed designs with fine lines and larger open ink areas with clean, sharp edges
- Suitable for manual screen printing applications and producing reusable stencils
- After use, the stencil can be removed from the screen mesh with a suitable emulsion remover
Color: Pink
Contents: 1 kg
Application:
Before use, carefully stir the photo emulsion with a wooden or plastic spatula. Do not use metal spatulas. After stirring, close the container again and allow it to stand for a few minutes so that any trapped air bubbles can escape.
Then apply the emulsion evenly to both sides of the screen mesh using a scoop coater. Depending on the desired coating thickness, several coats can be applied. Coating should always be carried out under yellow light.
For an even drying result, store the frame horizontally after coating, ideally with the print side facing down. The drying area should be as dust-free, dark and well ventilated as possible. Drying can take place at room temperature or with warm air, but the temperature must not exceed 36 °C.
Once completely dry, the coated screen must be stored fully protected from light until exposure. Avoid direct sunlight, daylight and strong UV sources at all times.
Exposure:
The exact exposure time depends on several factors, including coating thickness, the screen mesh used, the artwork, the distance from the light source and the output of your exposure unit. For this reason, we always recommend carrying out a short test exposure before using the emulsion for the first time.
The following values can be used as an initial guide:
- 400-watt halogen exposure lamp: approx. 3–4 minutes
- LED exposure lamp: depending on output and distance; a test exposure is recommended
Recommended distance between the light source and the screen:
- A4 frame: approx. 35–45 cm
- A3 frame: approx. 45–55 cm
- A2 frame: approx. 55–65 cm
After exposure, rinse the screen with water until the unexposed areas of the design are completely open. The screen should then dry thoroughly before you begin printing.
Stencil removal:
When you no longer need the stencil, it can be removed from the screen mesh with a suitable emulsion remover. Apply the remover to both sides of the screen, allow it to work briefly, then rinse thoroughly with plenty of water. A pressure washer makes this process considerably easier.
Shelf life and storage:
Unopened, the emulsion has a shelf life of up to 2 years when stored in a cool, dry place fully protected from light. After opening, close the container carefully again straight away and continue to store it in complete darkness.
